And here I thought the sea levels were raising because we were pumping all the ground water and excess rain water out to sea.

Dome.

It's RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing Indonesia. They own like 7% of our debt. It's in our interest that they don't drown.

I know you're conservative, and fiscally, I am too. But sometimes you have to face facts, that is, global warming.

Global warming is a joke.

There was a BIG issue about a species of frog in Illinois. It was very succeptable to climate changes.

All the global warming nuts came out of the woodwork to point at them as a major warning.

Two years later there was a metric crapton of the frogs.

It's Mother Freaking Nature.

Lots of predators? Prey levels fall off. Predators breed less due to lack of food. Predator levels drop. Prey breed and population explosion. Predators have plenty of food and increase their numbers.

Global warming idiots make me laugh. Sure, pollution is no good and we should do something about it, but it's not an end of the world scenario like all the global warming people would like to make people believe.

I will say only that I strongly disagree with certain opinions in this thread, including but not limited to, the OP's.

I won't say anything else because I don't care to take care of the shitstorm that follows.

I never came out and said I didn't believe in it so you misinterpret me dear Snow. I just believe we blow it way out of proportion that natural climate change does have a big part in it and that humans can't do anything to try and slow natural climate change.

I love you too.

The climate changes, look at the rising and falling CO2 levels in the atmosphere. It has been changing over and over. The problem is we have not been around long enough to see how the CO2 fluctuates over the years. The climate does change but it changes back and forth. Just how it works. We are freaking out because we happen to be in a part where it's in the high concentration of CO2 in the environment. It happens. Yes we need to be more careful and reduce our carbon emissions but we also need to let the environment take its time to work itself back out.

If we are so worried about the CO2 levels, we could...you know...plant some trees!

They would absorb the CO2, and replace it with yummyummy oxygenz!

Sort of, but sort of not. A little more complex then that since much of the CO2 is in the higher atmospheres where trees can't get to it. But yes, planting trees instead of destroying them would help.

The problem with worrying about CO2 is partly because we aren't 100% sure yet if the levels rise before warming occurs or they rise after it. For example during an ice age you might have less mammals around who are producing less farts and less CO2. Or the winters are longer so they hibernate more and use less energy overall. Then as things warm, more animals appear and they fart more and make more CO2.

There's also other factors like solar cycles, how much water is in the air and holding heat, particles in the air, etc. I mean some people have claimed that the little ice age that happened during the industrial revolution occurred largely because all of that smoke went into the atmosphere and the fact the world is warmer now is because our air is a lot cleaner... which means clean air is making polar bears drown.

pwnd... CO2 is heavier than air, so why is more of it in the upper atmosphere?

Pwnd, do you truly not believe in global warming?

It's almost like not believing in evolution, or are you a creationist too?

although temperature does fluctuate, primarily due to the earth orbit adjusting minority over millennia , co2 emissions can and do have a detrimental effect. unfortunately due to new developing powers such as india and china, which refuse to reduce their emissions with the rest of the world, little can be done.

anyways I don't care cos I has a spaceship with lasers and hyperdrive

lets say if theres no one telling anyone else there's global warming or environmental protections thing, etc.

Question:

don't you still fell the weather is extremely hot compare to, say 5 years back?
don't you still think that making the air we, you and I breath dirty is bad?
don't you still think throwing waste/garbage into the ocean is bad?
don't you still think that not having trees when you go picnic in a field for a nice afternoon shades with lemonade is bad, wait there might not have a field?
don't you still think not having a chance to ever see another whales is bad?
no matter what causes the temperature to rise, or drop, or birds and bees and trees and island to disappear, don't you want them to be there in the future?

Think about it, don't let the advertisemenst and environmental activists get in your thoughts. Think for yourself. What would you do not knowing of all the cause and effect.

I think global warming is because of all us humans. Why doesn't one blasted scientific study say that it's us that's the problem? I don't mean "us" as in "we use too many natural resources" or our "activities"... I mean US! More humans on the planet then at any other time. All this talk of saving the planet for our children because of the polar ice caps melting, using all our natural resources, recycling.

Ever been in a room full of crowded people?! It's hot. But they can't come out and say that because the new ironic marketing slogan for global warming would cause too much of an uproar and it wouldn't be cool to support the theory anymore:

It's the children's fault.

P.S. Snow Bunny, global warming is a theory... not a fact.

No. In fact, last year was one of the cooler summers I've seen in a while for Arizona. Sure, today was hot, but it was hotter in 1989. A full 20 years earlier.

Quote:

Sure. However I do not want to rush any changes that are poorly thought out due to some misguided zealotry about the end of the world. Clean the pollutants? Sure. Good idea. Rush to it throwing more money at the problem because we are all doomed? No.

Same as above.

Where does this come in? Even in the deserts of Arizona there are parks and there are even trees in the parks. In fact we have quite a few parks. Many of them are golf courses, but the parks are on the same pieces of land. They have plenty of trees.

Quote:

Save the whales. Sure, save all the whales you can. I however will not be too concerned if a subspecies goes extinct. That's Darwinism. There's still a few thousand other species that aren't going extinct.

What if it's just mother nature and no matter what we do they will change? What if there simply is nothing you can do to stop islands from sinking. (It's happened many times before) It's what the Earth does. Islands sink, and new ones are born. (Like the new island forming in the Hawaiian islands.)

That's just the problem. Global warming is a direct result to the "Activists" using scare tactics to get their way. Just like "Swine Flu" was hyped to hell and back, so has Global Warming.

Did you know that there is evidence in the permafrost of the arctic circles that suggest that the "CO2" levels may have been higher before the dawn of industry at times? Just as it has been lower?

Did you know that in the past the north pole was to the south and vice versa and that we are heading towards a polar shift already? (We won't live to see the North pole swap, but the evidence is there)

The problem is sensationalism. It causes people to go absolutely batshit crazy. Crazy enough that you want to slap them...

When I was growing up we were all going to be killed by the next ice age.
Now it is Global Warming...
10-20 years from now we will go back to the ice age again.

meh....

Edit: Lets not forget about the magnetic poles reversing or the sun blowing up or the meteor hit or the volcanic explosions or the (insert your own crisis).
